Founder reports data is still there.

The Wayback Machine is a great resource for finding information that not nice people are eager to hide.

A post on Brewster Kahle's X account says the Internet Archive expects to be back online in a matter of days rather than week. Earlier they reported a multi-pronged attack: distributed denial-of-service (DDoS); meddling with a JavaScript library; and theft of 31,000,000 user names, emails, and hashed passwords. The culprit is said to be a group named "BlackMeta" or "SN_Blackmeta." There is no known motivation except malice.

BlackMeta, or SN_BlackMeta, is a pro-Palestinian hacktivist group known for its involvement in large-scale cyberattacks, particularly Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. The group has targeted several major institutions, including the Internet Archive, which they brought down in a prolonged attack, making the platform inaccessible for several days. They also claimed responsibility for attacks on financial institutions in the Middle East and other prominent targets, such as Europol. BlackMeta's actions often align with political causes, particularly linked to Middle Eastern geopolitics.

Stunts like this are psychopathic onanism -- not the way to win larger support for your stated cause.

Internet Archive Back As Read Only After DDOS Attack Hack

The Internet Archive is back online in a read-only state after a cyberattack brought down the digital library and Wayback Machine last week. A data breach and DDoS attack kicked the site offline on October 9th, with a user authentication database containing 31 million unique records also stolen in recent weeks.

The Internet Archive is now back online in a “provisional, read-only manner,” according to founder Brewster Kahle. “Safe to resume but might need further maintenance, in which case it will be suspended again.”

While you can access the Wayback Machine to search 916 billion web pages that have been archived over time, you can’t currently capture an existing web page into the archive. Kahle and team have gradually been restoring Archive.org services in recent days, including bringing back the team’s email accounts and its crawlers for National Libraries. Services have been offline so that Internet Archive staff can examine and strengthen them against future attacks.
