True Experience Webcomic about the Elan School Cult

First off, here is a link to the comic: [elan.school]

It gives tremendous insight and first-hand experience into the initial shock of being forced into a cult. This is (based on) my story and it has taken a lot of years for me to process this. But I am finally ready.

The Elan School was one of the many "troubled teen" cults that misled parents, school districts, and court systems into sending them children. In a "Lord of the Flies" style system, the children were encouraged to self-govern and it was the job of the older residents to persuade the newer residents into "getting with the program". Types of "persuasion" included physical beatings in a ritual called "The Ring", month-long stints in a isolation chamber called "The Corner", and a sick ritual called a "General Meeting" where the entire population would publicly verbally humiliate one student for up to an hour.

Here is the Wikipedia for more information: [en.wikipedia.org]

Elan was one of the many spin-offs of the Synanon Cult:

(Sorry mods, I am reposting this because I accidentally posted this into the "Hate Groups" section of this forum. I am new here.)

Do you know about Fornits, and the online ex-Elan community there?

Yeah, I used to watch Fornits a lot for the Elan back and forth.

But I went there again recently after a long time and it seemed completely dead. I was disappointed actually.

I remember there being a few users who would pretty much dominate threads with their never-ending arguments, maybe the rest of the people stopped showing up because of it?

I just realized that I was actually visiting ElanAlum and thinking it was Fornits.

So thanks for the suggestion, I am going to go check out Fornits. Haven't been there in a while.

Yes: Fornits is, IMO, very poorly moderated (for the most part).

The person with the user name "DANNY BENNISON" pretty much ruined the Elan thread...that and the fact that Antigen refuses to police/moderate anything very much. "Bennison" was a truly epic, professional troll.
