A man has been arrested on suspicion of fraud offences and was being questioned at a south London police station.

Police today raided six addresses and arrested a man as part of a criminal investigation into individuals associated with London church SPAC Nation.

The 24-year-old was being questioned at a south London police station on suspicion of fraud offences.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mick Gallagher of the Met Police’s central specialist crime team said: “On Thursday, officers carried out a series of warrants at the following locations: Ashburton Road, CR0; The Mount, CR5; Hayes Street, BR2; The Glade, CR0; Limpsfield Avenue, CR7; Chaffinch Avenue, CR0.

“This activity forms part of an investigation into allegations made against individuals who are currently, or have previously been, linked to SPAC Nation.

It may read a little politically incorrect in the first place but there is a little more to it than it seems. Two of the problems that are going on in Nigeria, that is leading to widespread cultic abuses even by the likes of Boko Haram and the internationalization of their fraud industry, are the problems of youth demographics, and the traditional systems of primogeniture.

Clearly these street punks never read the bit where Jesus spoke of the eye of the needle.

Something else that comes out of this, is the police and authorities fear of becoming involved in cases of cultic abuse, due to the desire to avoid bogus accusations of racism. Something we've seen related to other immigrant minority cults that are able to deflect inspection on the basis of it being discriminatory.

Interesting ( and politically incorrect ) points about the possible reluctance of involvement by the authorities in order to avoid allegations of racism etc... will think about that. Some may argue that the law needs tweaking in order to facilitate necessary interventions.

Yes. I've seen it argue both ways.

a) Police and politicians won't get involved because, on one hand, "diversity" is the mantra of the day and anything that makes them look more diverse is good for business; and, on the other, that they won't come down on BAME cults because it could look like racial discrimination.

I don't know this of SPAC Nation, I had not heard of them until I read your posts here, but I have heard it very clearly and specifically of the group I have experiencing in, and that was coming direct from a minister in government.

In both cases, I see the both the politicians and the cultists have courted each other for mutual backscratching, and the acquisition of status by association on behalf of the cult leaders.

b) However, I've also read SPAC victims suggest that the reason the authorities did nothing was due to racial discrimination, ie that the vast majority of victims were Black and they don't care about them.

I don't think I'd agree with that. There's a long track record of police and politicians not only not getting involved in cultic matters but even siding with the cultists, and the law being very weak in the area of undue influence.

A situation engineered, to some degree, by apologistic academics.

In the UK you have Eileen Barker at INFORM who has pretty much monopolized the role of being an "expert witness" on New Religious Movements and has had widespread governmental influence (she does not like the c-word). She has been notoriously supportive of them, advised them (the cults) and lobbied on their behalf.

It's a different discussion why.

I watched a few videos from a Youtuber called 'The Exposer' who appears to be doing an excellent job documenting what is going on. If it is all true, the method, extent and purpose of the abuse is disgusting but, I understand, fairly par for the course with bogus Nigerian prosperity "churches".

It seems like the Black British community has just reach the same point as the White British middle class were in the early 1970s, in terms of being ripped off by cultic movements. In the latter's case, of course, it was mainly India gurus who were doing it. But the dynamics appear to be very similar.

It would be good if SPAC victims could hook up with veterans of previous cult wars.

I agree that the law is weak in the area of undue influence and that needs rectifying if people are to be properly protected in this area.

I also think that there is a lot of ignorance when it comes to religious groups.


Mainstream organisations often unwittingly provide a platform for these groups and become complicit in the abuse.

Hopefully there will be some sharing of experience amongst survivors as you suggest.
