26 July Movement/Cuban Revolution

Today is 26 July, the 60th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks, which marked the beginning of the Cuban Revolution and the establishment of one of the most durable political cults the side of North Korea.

Me, I've got mixed feelings about the "revolutionary" history of Cuba, but regard Castro as a dictator, and Che Guevara as a very sick man. These were not "heroes" in any sense of the word, but what happened in Cuba is impressive enough nonetheless. It's just too bad that they turned the island into a Stalinist human ant farm, which revolved around the cult of Fidel and Che.
