Beckham admits his respect for Scientology

An unofficial book about David Beckham reveals his close relationship with Tom Cruise and how he respects Scientology.

In the unauthorised book it is revealed Becks talks to his confidante 'most days of the week', taking advice on everything from his Hollywood lifestyle to which physical therapist to use.

But one thing Becks says he draws the line at is being roped into his chum's Scientology beliefs, the New York Daily News reports.

'It's something I respect, because Tom's explained to me and Victoria what it's all about. But he's never turned around and said, 'That is what you should be doing,' because he would never do that, Becks says in the book.

'He and Katie have their beliefs ... but me and Victoria have also got our own.'

Cruise was also a big influence on Becks' decision to move to LA Galaxy after the pair struck up a friendship in 2003, the book claims.

It also tells how the footballing superstar named his young son after his close friend Cruise.
