Reasons to Doubt SEW Ministries
Philip Livingston and Colleen Steinbraker have been involved in a romantic, sexual relationship, since mid-2007. They have been hiding this fact from virtually everyone. You have been deceived by them about their true moral character. Imagine the audacity and hypocrisy. They must believe that they are above God’s laws, just like the Pharisees of Jesus’ day.
Phil moved out of his Hoffman Estates residence with Nancy Livingston in December, 2007, and moved into Colleen Steinbraker’s apartment on that same date. They have been living together on the west side of Chicago ever since, while Phil was married to Nancy.
Phil Livingston, Jason Livingston, and/or the various company names they did business under, i.e., Quality Concrete, Q.C. Construction, United Concrete, etc., have been named defendants in 49 separate civil lawsuits, in Cook County alone, over the past 12 years. This is an average of 1 lawsuit filed every 3 months over that timeframe. They have typically been sued for money due to breach of contract, and the aggregate amount claimed by all of the plaintiffs is nearly $900,000.00

Phil Livingston is the classic deadbeat dad. He is wanted by both the Illinois Dept. of Revenue’s Child Support Enforcement Division, and its counterpart in the State of Maryland. He owes just over $100,000.00 to his past wives.
Jason Livingston will admit to the fact that his father, Phil, moved their young family “a good 20 times” prior to Jason reaching the age of 18. That is more than one house move per year. It is a miracle of God that Jason turned out to be relatively normal. We wonder just who Phil was hiding from for all those years? He continues to hide his true character from those who claim to follow him today. The Reverend Jim Jones, and David Koresh, behaved in exactly the same manner, prior to them each descending into madness. In each instance, you all know what happened next.
Phil Livingston was ordered to relinquish all forms of leadership in the prayer ministry of Willow Creek Community Church, S. Barrington, IL, by their Board of Elders, in February, 2006. The general sentiment is that Phil refused to stop teaching what the Elders believed were false Biblical doctrines. Feel free to contact the Elder’s Office of Willow Creek Church, and they will be more than happy to discuss their tainted experiences concerning Mr. Livingston.
The failure of Phil’s Open Heaven Prayer School was bourne squarely on the shoulders of the congregation of The Prayer Furnace, Chicago. Phil personally promised to pay $3000/month rent for use of those facilities, but Phil never paid. To the best of our knowledge, Phil never paid a dime in rent. He just chose to bring up one excuse after another after another. Sr. Pastor John Bailey, who got stuck with the ~$20,000 tab remarked, “Phil conned all of we church leaders like we’ve never been taken before. Phil is truly a professional in his capacity to deceive. Anyone who claims to be a man of God, yet so boldly breaks the trust of other Christian leaders, must be possessed to the core by a host of demonic forces.”
Phil not only uses spiritual leaders for his own personal gain, he also uses his congregants. In the 2nd half of 2007, Janet Hoffmann, a former Sew Ministries devotee, entered into a rental agreement with Phil for a room in the basement of her home to house Jason Livingston and Michael Ericksen. The only person to ever pay rent on that contract was Mike Ericksen, using the money gifted to him for his college graduation, and those payments rapidly ceased. Mike Ericksen’s naivete concerning Phil’s character continues to shock and astound us all. Mike, when are you going to wake up from the stupor and the hurt of your relationship with your earthly father and realize that a Christian leader’s untainted moral character and reputation are the primary requisites for building a ministry that can command respect?
Phil Livingston has been approached by countless Christian individuals and groups; all in the reconciliatory spirit of the Book of Matthew, Chapter 18, regarding his pervasive teaching of false doctrines, and his lack of concern regarding, and even acknowledgment of, other believer’s, and pastor’s, personal and theological beliefs, opinions, or boundaries. To our knowledge, Phil has dismissed each and every one of these encounters and has not altered his spiritually abusive style in any way. Everyone else is always wrong. Phil Livingston is always right and correct.
Phil Livingston was previously allowed to hold prayer vigils, along with followers, at every monthly, or quarterly, meeting of the “G-11,” which is the regular meeting event for the senior leadership of the largest Christian churches in the Chicagoland area. In the summer of 2007, Phil was specifically asked to not come to these events any further because “your ministry is consistently shrouded in far too much controversy, and we just cannot have that kind of thing associated with an assembly as important as this one.”
Phil Livingston’s “zone” involves heightened conflict with his follower’s families, those that care for these seekers the most; combining his own theological dogmas, and never, ever, being wrong. Phil will make YOU believe that you might be wrong, on each and every topic you could ever discuss with him. No one will ever prevail in a theological discussion with Phil. He simply cannot allow that. He feeds off of his follower’s tensions and frustrations in life and with family. He is actually attracted to this negative energy, just as a vampire is attracted to the sight and smell of blood. If this energy is coming from an attractive female, that’s quite the bonus for Phil. Oddly enough, he is particularly successful with women. The Apostle, Paul, in his 2nd Epistle to the Apostle, Timothy, writes about this specifically in the 3rd chapter of his letter. We encourage you to read Our Father’s revealed truth on this matter.
Phil’s version of the “correct church” involves “unity at all costs.” Interestingly, this is the very same motto that Adolph Hitler espoused as he built up Nazi Germany. Due to their defeat in World War I, Germany was a very hurt nation at that time, and unity felt good to everyone. Most of the Sew Ministries followers are deeply wounded people, as well. Therefore the concept of unity also feels good to them. This practice is a form of Mind Control, and mentioned nowhere in any version of the Holy Christian Bible. This mind-controlled unity only serves one purpose: to perpetuate the false doctrines that Phil and Colleen teach, and to allow them to continue their money-making façade.
In short, Phil Livingston is a delusional con man and grifter, typically placing the character of the creator of the universe upon himself, while projecting his personal defects of character on those around him. Again, he cannot escape his primary objective, learned at a young age: to separate those he can gain the confidence of, from their money. He searches diligently for each of his follower’s particular human weaknesses, and then exploits them, with no semblance of a conscience. He is a spiritual predator. Well-meaning Christian folk are some of the easiest people to con, as we are typically taught to see the best in other Christians. This is an unfortunate truth about we good people of Christ.
If you have any assets, you would do best to fully insulate them from Phil Livingston.

Thank you for getting this out Alphaomega my family and I don't feel alone anymore. I feel so horrible for those others that were hurt as well words cannot even begin to explain. We really miss Colleen.

Word on the street is that Colleen and Phil just got married, to avoid further scrutiny by whatever other Christian organization is partnering with them now for a place to meet. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for the Steinbraker family.

Updating the world that Colleen's Toyota Scion was repossessed a few weeks ago. Don't allow them to lead you to believe that they gave the vehicle up voluntarily. Colleen's father was also forced into paying off all of her student loans, as he made the mistake of trusting in, and co-signing for, the character of the daughter he "used to know." Creditors continue to contact Colleen's father, seeking to collect on all of her debts.
I would ask everyone to consider why the God who's really in charge up above, would allow Phil & Colleen to prosper so little (call it serious and significant negative-prosperity), when, at face value, they are so devoted to following Him?
As the King James Version of our Holy Bible states, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
Phil & Colleen ARE reaping what they are sowing. What they are sowing is nothing but the twisted vitriol of that which accompanies the delusionary thought patterns of a classic narcissist and sociopath. They are clearly reaping the earthly benefits of the spiritual toxicity that they choose to spread.
Phil and Colleen also recently claimed that "they have been completely exonerated of the lies that were previously spread about them." They are referring to the information contained in what was written at the beginning of this subject thread. I would suggest to everyone that they are not exonerated at all. They simply claim that they are, trusting in the reality that at least half of those Christians that they make that claim to, will not investigate anything about it and will simply believe them. That is the cardinal flaw of the Charismatic Christian world. Charismatics somehow NEED to believe in a good God so deeply, that they do so by agreeing to "check their intellect at the door" every time they walk into a spiritual gathering. Those that follow Phil & Colleen closely, they choose to permanently leave their intellect & reasoning skills behind them, or they never developed any of these common skills in the first place.
Finally, Phil & Colleen were also recently asked to leave their 3rd meeting location (Wauconda, IL) within the past year, again for non-payment of agreed rent. Phil's pattern of not living up to his word, continues.
This thread will continue to report on the facts that lead us to conclude that Phil and Colleen are nothing but spiritual abusers who seek out, and incite, tremendous controversy in the lives of the unfortunate Christians they encounter.
