Pastor Carl Steven's (leader of GGWO) apparition from Christ

I am quoting page 5 of the Walter Martin report on the
Bible Speaks put out by CRI in 1983:

"To put the matter into full perspective we must go back to a
spiritual experience Carl Stevens reportedly had at the outset of
his ministry:

In the early 1960's when Pastor Stevens was
preaching to a couple of very small congregations,
God called him one day to the back of the woods
near a lake. Then the Lord Jesus baptized him
with what Pastor describes as liquid waves
love. Along with this experience God promised him
several things. First and foremost, God promised
an annointing upon every message he would preach
from then on."

(Also listen to "Last Looks, Last Thoughts Last Words",
a message Pastor Stevens preached in the 1970's. It is
available via internet (Windows Media or Real player)
on the GGWO website in the "Hallmark messages" section.)

Now of course (I was in this group for several years and
have exchanged much communication with P Stevens)
I don't believe Jesus showed up literally like he did to him.
I believe that this was more of a vision(Joel 2:28, Acts2:17,
Numbers 12:6).

In a letter exchange in 1997 with him he wrote to me
quoting a verse in Deutoronomy "underneath are his
everlasting arms". This about the "double Dan story" I
wrote about earlier.

He agreed with me that my story was from God but
what prevented the success of it(main thing)was his (and many ex-members will tell you this) inadvertent geographical control
over people. Moses 2 ?!

I am looking for that one reporter out there who would be willing
to research this "double Dan story" and expose it. This to shed
light on things from a special angle upon GGWO.

Any questions about this topic? Please Email me.

GGWO story:

See [www.culteducation.com]

Carl Stevens is seen as something more like a "con man" and has been called a "cult leader."

Most Christians don't take him seriously, other than because of the many people he has hurt.

Whatever self-serving "vision" Stevens claims is of little interest, other than his use of such things for his own selfish purposes. That is, to feed his ego and/or manipulate others.

It's doubtful that anyone here would be interested in your "Double Dan" story.

People come here to discuss cults, controversial groups and movements, not claimed visions.

If you left the Stevens group, good for you, given the groups sordid history.

One woman sued Stevens and his church for brainwashing her back in the 1980s. She won and collected as damages the "Bible Speaks" property Stevens had before relocating in Baltimore.

The group has a really horrible history.

Well, to those who don't like him (and I never liked the Moses figure
aspect of his leadership it threw me off in my personal life they way
he dealt with problems by swaying the congregation against me that
is his style he indirectly castigates people) he has finally stepped
down! Tom Schaller now the new leader. So now we have church splits in GGWO overseas, Pastors who won't submit to home base in Baltimore. It's a mess, I knew a man by the name of Arpe who got a letter of rejection from the leadership of the church in Austria because he was with the "Baltimore spirit" and not the local church he was in.

We can sure say that in the Bible Speaks the BIBLE SPEAKS ! I mean
this is the kind of stuff going on in Paul's day. Basically the churches
under Paul did not want to submit to him and he had to deal with all
kinds of stuff. The church in Corinth was probably the worst
(in 2 Corinthians Paul got really weak and the church had all kinds
of problems) So now Tom Schaller is like a Paul in charge of this
rowdy group.

I have news. When I was 20(I'm 33 now) in the Bible Speaks
I was a young enthusiastic christian who just entered Bible College
in the BS in Budapest. I got a little out of line one of the reasons
because I didn't submit to home base. Eventually (also because of other
reasons I'll let the BS church in Budapest fill you in) I got labeled as a King Saul by Tom Schaller who was Pastor at the church in Budapest! It was indirect labeling and castigation, just like Stevens. Fortunately Schaller is
mellower these days and he when he does this stuff there is a lot less
burn power than Stevens. So the end result is church splits everywhere
because the new leader doesn't have the glue.

GGWO story:

You seem pretty confused.

The whole Bible Speaks organization has been called a "cult and has hurt many people.

IMO--there are no good leaders to follow that flowed from this group.

There is no segment of the organization that I would recommend to anyone under any circumstances.

You seem to be grasping at the possibility that a bad tree can produce good fruit.

I don't think so.
