Extraordinary claims require extra ordinary proof.

Last July (2011) Serge stood in front of his Friday night meetings followers (200 at least) and animatedly predicted that Sydney would be hit by a freak tornado in the coming November, and that specifically Kirribilly would be hit.
Nothing ever happened of course.
No-one IMHO can predict the future, and to try to do so is an ego-centric act which blasts credibiity out of the water.

Other than that, I find Serge entertaining, especially when he asks for a standing ovation at the end of his lecture because, he justifies, we are actually clapping furiously for ourselves, and not for him. He, of course is elevated above all need for praise and adoration. It's all good fun.

That's very funny! Do you have anymore of these stories as they certainly illustrate the ridiculousness of Serge's predictions and his utter lack of any predictive 'powers'.

I found this link which touches on his predictions. If anyone can dig up his original website you will see some of his more bold predictions. They have pulled the site down.

Scroll down to the section of - onward, in revelation.

And it gets better

Quotes from a recent article on his retreat. Can be read in full here but be warned the English is terrible and you need patience to read it. If you can't be bothered reading it... Let me summarise for you. It's full of baseless arrogant predictions and we are screwed unless we follow UM.

[study.universalmedicine.com.au]

"Dear fellow Students,

It gives me great pleasure to finally arrive at the point that I have been presenting, revealing about and initiating since late 1999. Here we are, although not quite yet - so, here we will be at next year’s UniMed Retreats standing on what I have taught will be the basis of our new Earth life for the next 2600 years. The 2600-year cycle which we will enter from the 30th November this year will be known as the 'Era of the Soul'.

If you take the time to sit with this fact, a fact that cannot be disputed, the esoteric, as taught by UniMed in respect to its heritage, becomes the only truth that has stated and founded its teachings on a fact no one can refute. Compare that to the Catholic Church’s teaching that the sun revolves around the earth or any other teaching that has you thinking our time is lineal and you will see how we are fed a basis for an irresponsibility that then creates an arrogance about time that then leads to the mess we find ourselves in today when the world is entering into a very important cycle and yet few if any know the truth about it and the immense consequences that it entails if we do not live as the cycle provides."

"If you have not already consciously felt the recent two preparatory drops of energy (10th December 2010 & 26th June 2011) it may appear or be for you a case of - 'business as usual' as the term goes. The 'business as usual' term or reality does not always display its truth. For example – if you eat bread, which is a very damp food that helps keep the spirit in comfort by offering what is known as damp-energy (damp = separative to the fire of the Soul) then you may not realise that when the energy around you calls you to be more soulful, you may un-consciously increase the intake of bread to offset the call. Consider widely and very openly what is here said, for it may not be 'bread'; it can be sugar in its obvious forms along with its not so obvious forms as found in most fruits, drinks/juices and certain vegetables like potatoes etc. The same un-conscious reaction can also include and or mean a rise in alcohol consumption, in-take of drugs and or a rise in certain hobbies or ways of being that bury and or help discount or deny what is truly going on. Hence, it may appear that all is as it is ('business as usual') but un-consciously, measures have been taken to off-set the energetic pull to move towards a higher and more energetically aware way of being. Of course, this may not concern you but, it is worth mentioning to help you spot the many spiritual techniques of resistance that are employed by the mainstream of humanity. The average person is still fast-asleep when it comes to understanding what is energetically going on. This is in no way a judgment but a fact … a fact that is one day discovered when the human being realises that they can either live as a human being under the impulse of their Soul or, by the impulse of their pranic-immersed spirit."

"Before we further expand on the way of the Soul, it is here to complete that the so-called 'natural disasters' are in-truth no more than very needed corrections to clear/cleanse and make possible the vibration of true love (fiery energy) as opposed to its loveless version that most think is love but dare not feel whether it is in fact love or not. "

"For now, birth to death to re-birth is a physical vibratory process of evolution back to a plane of life where no birth or death exists."

"The Soul will interact with human life in full and it will not seek communal exclusion or obscure lifestyles but interactivity within the human framework as it is known whilst not deviating away from the Divine expression that will eventually bring a new order to human life. The latter, that is, the process of bringing the Divine expression into all forms of human life until such time that human life is the expression of the Soul and no longer the plane of life for the separated spirit, will take the full 2600 years. Thereafter, we will all enter into a new 5600 year cycle where we will begin to extract ourselves from human life … decreasing the world population as a result of the many that will simply not need to re-incarnate having completed their cycle of re-birth in full and not being needed en masse to return to help those refusing to re-awaken as has been the case to-date and will as such for the next 2600 years."

"What you read in the above indent is not only revelation - it is irreversible prophecy"

"But do not despair or be fooled, the 'end of the world' meaning applies to the way of the Pranic Consciousness and not the world the Soul will make it to be for all of mankind. 'They', the astral aligned human beings will have their seeming dominance look like it is intact, but it will be a mere last hoorah at best. And yes, some quite catastrophic worldly calamities lay ahead as will illness and disease migrate/transmute to new forms and levels of incessant pain and multi-symptomatic conditions that will expand on the prediction Serge gave in 2002 of the coming' multi-symptomatic man' … a prediction that has already come true"

"When you see global calamity (so-called disasters) and or the rise of illness and disease, think not of climate change or pollution etc causing our ill-health, but of a correction, a correction of a deeply entrenched arrogance needing to be deconstructed in order to make way for a more whole version of truth."

"Hence the purpose of all the teachings we have brought to any one who has chosen to listen. The whole purpose of Universal Medicine as a teaching school/college and the sole purpose of Serge being here is to reveal, prepare, help and forewarn of all that is to be. There is no other purpose other than to serve so as to make what is inevitable an easy transition away from the ruthless irresponsibility mankind has laced the planet with, and by reflection, the universe it shares space with."

"Along with the only healing modalities that can withstand and truly heal in our times comes the serving package known as the UniMed Retreats. It is here that we get to pass on to you the necessary preparatory awakenings, skills and techniques that will allow you, the Son in re-awakening return, to re-gather, re-waken and thus re-turn in full to your truth so that you in-turn can do likewise to others as we are doing for/to you."

Universal Medicine- incredible leader?

As the spouse of a fully devoted UM'er I find it hard to openly express my feelings about the movement and the growing organisation that surrounds its leader.

I feel like my freedom of speech is at risk anytime I open my mouth about UM, so now I have to sneak around forums that seem to be disappear as fast as they spring up (what happened to Yvonne MacIllwain's blog? and what happened to the Wikipedia article on Serge Benhayon that was written a few years ago?). Is this what living in Russia or China is like?

I am bothered that a leader who so vehemently denies any egotistical driven motivation so often desires the praise and adoration of his flock and has to make 'predictions' to prove his connection to the innermost.
I went through all this soul searching stuff back in the 60/70's and it just seems to keep bubbling up over and over. Remember Barry Long? I went to several of his talks at the request of my then partner and found a lot of what he said to be interesting, but I think he died of prostate cancer, so whatever he was preaching must not have worked for him.
And there's Osho, and the TM'ers, and the list goes on, but guess what? Another self-proclaimed and qualified-in-nothing guru is always ready to take to the soapbox as long as there's a good dollar in it. WC Fields is my idea of a man worth listening to- he said 'there's a sucker born every day' and I think he was dead right.

So I guess I am doomed to live another 2000+ lifetimes before I am allowed to graduate to wherever it is that Serge is selling tickets to, even though I don't drink, don't smoke, don't gamble, don't do porn, don't do drugs, don't cheat on my partner, don't eat other animals (especially poor little LAMBS), but in the end I feel at peace with myself. full stop.

This forum is important to keep alive and active for everyone who needs to be able to unload feelings that are otherwise being suppressed.

Do UM devotees wear their special jewelry openly?

Or keep it hidden?

I have no idea what happened to Yvonne's blog. It closed, as did her Facebook page and her private email address. I was very surprised by this. She was an active and vocal critic of UM who did some fine research into the cult. Corboy has posted most of her blog earlier in this thread. This blog:

[umsupportgroup.blogspot.com]

Is also a well written and researched forum on UM. I am sure there must be a cached version of the wikipedia page somewhere out there. As Corboy has pointed out - once it's on the net, it's always there somewhere.

Thank you for the honesty of your post, and I am sure this thread will continue to grow. It's good to have the support of The Rick Ross Forum, and feel this is a place that however UM tries to attack its critics, will be a haven of truth and a real resource tool for those wishing to find out the real underpinnings of UM.

Hi Corby

Yes serge has specifically made jewellery which he sells. Again it helps clear energy.

Members of UM wear a triangle to represent the hierarchy. And they also wear a piece specifically designed for the individual which helps balance their energy.

In the case of my ex - she never took it off. Literally.

You have to wonder what the cards are for then if the jewellery is doing the job?

Nofooliam makes a great point in this line from his previous post

"So I guess I am doomed to live another 2000+ lifetimes before I am allowed to graduate to wherever it is that Serge is selling tickets to, even though I don't drink, don't smoke, don't gamble, don't do porn, don't do drugs, don't cheat on my partner, don't eat other animals (especially poor little LAMBS), but in the end I feel at peace with myself. full stop. "

It's about feeling at peace within yourself. UM followers are not at peace with themselves and it's why I find serge to be such a dangerous teacher. . Both through my ex and her friends they were in constant paranoia and almost fear when they strayed off serges teachings. Obsessive compulsive behaviors would rule their every moment. The regular guilt they would put themselves under if they had a piece of bread or were not gentle enough on their body. The judging of those around them who held other belief systems. I am not exaggerating this point and I think both current and ex partners or friends of UM members can back this up.

This is an organization that does not promote peace within individuals. It wouldn't make the money if it did.

Hi Rod here, back again from Queensland Australia.

There have been some critical comments about my previous two posts and that’s to be expected. Some were emotionally reactive, but there were also some good points put up for discussion. So I have chosen to respond in more depth.

I address this first part of my response to those who have partners or ex-partners who have become involved with Universal Medicine.

It appears to me that you are saying that your partners/ex-partners are gullible and have been ‘sucked-in’ by Universal Medicine or by Serge Benhayon. Does this also mean you are saying that your partners/ex-partners do not have the intelligence to make an informed decision for what they feel is suitable in their lives? And are you also implying that you know better than they do, rather than honour the choices they have made?

I pose these questions as something for you to simply ponder upon…hopefully without reaction.

I also see comments about how those partners who became involved with UM have changed and how you have found those changes disturbing. I do understand your frustration and/or concern about that, particularly if a partner cannot give you a logical explanation for the teachings of Universal Medicine.

A few days ago Macready suggested that UM students avoid issues about some of the more bizarre and fear-mongering claims Serge makes. While I completely disagree with the assertion of ‘fear mongering’, I agree the teachings are ‘bizarre’ when considered in a rational or logical sense. But rather than the word ‘bizarre’, I prefer the words ‘out of the ordinary’.

So in response to Macready’s comment I will take the opportunity to reply to the best of my awareness. I should clarify that these are my opinions based on five years as an esoteric student.

But first - an aside. The question was raised about why UM students don’t get involved in this forum to express a point of view. Surely that’s easy to understand - why would you bother if you’re going to be on the back end of so much criticism – instead you’d just get on with your life.

However in my case, because some issues have been raised from my two posts I will share some details of my experiences which may provide some understanding…particularly for those who have felt the pain of becoming distant from their partners.

My postings to this forum are genuinely heart-felt and do come from love (I don’t mean emotional love or some sort of ‘airy fairy’ love) - let’s call it brotherhood. And when I sign off ‘with love’ I mean it, no matter what interpretation some may wish to place on those words.

So here’s an overview on the esoteric based on my experiences.

For perspective, I’m 63 years old, married twice plus been in a couple of defacto relationships...and I know what it’s like to be left in a relationship. I used to be an accomplished beer drinker and played lots of different sports. I enjoy dancing and love being with people, yet I am quite content being alone. Others who know me would say I’m pretty down to earth and what you see is what you get. I enjoy the lighter side of life, which is really missing in this forum. C’mon guys, lighten up occasionally!

I considered the religion thing which was initially forced on me at school, yet it didn’t resonate or feel right. I dabbled a bit in spirituality and looked into Buddhism – some good points but again, not for me. I also became heavily involved with personal development material for a few years until I realised that the motivational rhetoric was without substance and predominately about self and making money. Overall I was happy living my life; my career, relationship, family, friends, social and sporting life were all going along fine. Yet behind it all there still was something that didn’t feel quite right and I was looking to find and fulfill a purpose.

Fast forward to March 2007 when I attended a presentation by Serge Benhayon from Universal Medicine. In those days there were about 100 people in a small hall and Serge presented for a couple of hours. I found that a lot of what he said made sense, while on the other hand many of the concepts were quite foreign. But it was also quite refreshing because Serge was quite unimposing, down to earth and very accessible to all.

Over five years Serge has been totally consistent and today he is still the same…accessible, unassuming and loving to all.

I continued to attend because I found it interesting and revealing. Some of the concepts were self-challenging and it was up to me to determine whether it held truth for me. There was much I was sceptical about and my analytical brain struggled to understand some of the material, after all most of this information is not available in books or Google searches. Yet deep down, it was as if I already knew this stuff.

Over the first two years, as my awareness developed, I began to discover and unravel a form of intuition that is readily available to all of us if we allow it. It’s a ‘different’ type of intelligence…an ancient wisdom that is accessible to all. Some people ‘got it’ much faster than I did…but then again, I did have some deep seated beliefs I needed to clear.

To understand the teachings of Universal Medicine is to understand energy. Einstein showed us that energy is everything, which has been backed up by the scientific research of quantum physics. Because energy is everything that then applies to our bodies, buildings, rocks, the food we eat and so on. It also applies to radio and television airwaves, to music, to thoughts, emotions and so on…it’s all energy.

So if everything is energy…it must follow that everything is because of energy. It cannot be denied.

And this is where it gets interesting. Through UM, students learn about energy and the affect of energy on our lives and our bodies. Our diet, thoughts, emotions, relationships and the way we live all involve energy and all can affect our health. The consequence of taking on other’s emotions or energetic states can lead to illness and disease.

It applies to every single level of our lives. Consider that there are some musicians or tattoo artists who are affected by drugs. As much as we may not like to hear it…the energy of the musician enters us through their music as does the energy of the tattooist enter us via the needles. This is an imposed energy which affects our bodies without us even realising it. Some people suggest these types of propositions are ‘fear mongering’. To that I say this is truth and the faster humanity understands what the real ramifications of energy are, then the better off we will be, because we do have a choice whether we take on those energies or do not.

I’ve discovered that there’s nothing mystical or weird about the esoteric…it’s simply about living from within and connecting to the energy of our Soul. There are also other energetic astral forces at play…and for those who think I’m going off into ‘woo woo land’, that’s fine, because I found these concepts difficult initially. These viewpoints are wide open to criticism because they are so different from the norm.

I’ve also reacquainted myself with another ‘dimension’ I had been neglecting in my life…the ability to feel. I had it as a young child but let it slip away. Each of us can feel, however many have shut down the ability to feel deeply and access intuition (and I’m not referring to gut instinct). ‘Feelings’ have been disputed further back on this forum and are easy targets for criticism because there is little temporal proof or validation in books or online.

But through developing my sixth sense of feeling from my inner-heart, I have indeed been able to connect to my Soul and as a result my life has changed substantially. I’m still the same person, but much more settled without needing attention or confirmation that I’m a ‘decent’ being. Even though I’m not connected to my inner heart all of the time (that’s a work in progress) I now find that life is consistently joy-full without the ups and downs formerly experienced from various emotions such as happiness, sadness, despair, frustration, jealousy, anger – that stuff has pretty much gone.

When I initially read Serge’s first book ‘The Way It Is’, much of the information went over my head because (as I later realised) I was approaching it from an analytical viewpoint. As my awareness developed, the books became easier to read and so much more was revealed to me. Essentially the info was the same, but I was changing.

Universal Medicine shows us what living energetically in truth is really all about and how we can live our lives in such a way as not be affected by energetic forces around us. I’ve also now realised my purpose isn’t an external pursuit or need to identify myself with what I do. It’s about being who I am and to reflect that love to others without imposition. That’s it, pretty simple.

The question has been put to me about who do I think Serge is, so here is my answer. Serge is a fellow human being who is absolutely equal to us all, a man who has more love in his being for humanity than anyone I have known, a person whose awareness has allowed him to tap into ancient wisdom – a wisdom that is accessible to us all if we open ourselves to it. He is a world teacher who is bringing many important lessons to mankind, lessons about life that may not appear to be logical to many. That said, not for once does Serge ever think he is special or the only one. On the contrary, he says that we can all access the same awareness if we choose to. As he says, ‘if a tennis coach can do it … we all can’.

Imagine how hard it is to bring concepts to humanity that challenge most of our traditional belief systems – it takes an extraordinary amount of courage and consistency to continue to do that for more than 12 years in the face of enormous criticism. So why does Serge continue to do so? Because of the deep love that he has for humanity. Of that love, he says that we can all connect to it and if so, much of the unnecessary malaise will cease.

Serge has a very important message to bring to us. Blind Freddy can see there is much wrong with the world and how sickness and disease and violence are increasing. This is not scare mongering – this is fact. It is by understanding what is behind these factors that we can move forward.

About 500 years ago Nicolaus Copernicus proved that the earth was not the centre of the universe. This was totally against the philosophical and legal-binding religious beliefs of the times and went against all academic teachings. My point is that there have been many times throughout history where the implausible has later become accepted as everyday truth. History also shows that it is difficult for those of the times to see any different; a resisted obvious that is then adopted by the next generation as the true way. As a result, certain teachers, humble and very human as they are, are scorned simply because they ask us to be greater and more aware than the comfortable norm we are living in.

So is it possible that the teachings of Universal Medicine do bring truth…or, is it totally implausible?

One of the things I appreciate about the esoteric is that it is all encompassing and not exclusive. It is inclusive of all humanity, including those who disagree with or even condemn the teachings.

I have found that the best way to understand the esoteric is to have a comprehensive understanding of it, rather than look at various small fragments to make a judgement on what it is about. Perhaps an analogy is to be critical of the work that a town council does because one of their parking inspectors gave you a ticket.

As my awareness developed about energy and the esoteric, many of the individual pieces of the puzzle then made sense. For example I now understand more about what is behind the energetic configuration of healing symbols and why they are effective. But when I applied my former logical reasoning, it seemed quite far-fetched. Like the critics I had my doubts and I wasn’t led by blind faith.

So because to know the esoteric is to understand it in full, I will not get involved in answering specifics that have been mentioned on this forum. Does that mean I’m running away? That’s for the reader to judge – after all I have been quite upfront about who I am and where I live.

You see, the information is readily available. Universal Medicine is totally open to all and everything is there for anyone to access. There is a comprehensive website with numerous teachings, articles, recorded interviews and recorded presentations. Six books have been published to date. Anyone can attend a Universal Medicine presentation, workshop or retreat…and anyone can walk out of them at any time, without judgement, and with a full refund.

There are costs associated for various activities and why shouldn’t there be? Costs range from $5 to attend a presentation on esoteric medicine for about 2 hours up to about $1600 for a 5 day retreat including accommodation and all meals. The costs for workshops and practitioner training vary. Esoteric practitioners, who are only permitted to practice if they follow strict integrity guidelines, treat thousands of clients a year throughout Australia, UK, Europe and Canada.

Personally I find UM superb value for money, particularly for the ongoing benefits for myself and how I have been able to use what I have learnt to help others in a subtle way, without imposing. And considering my expenses on grog and crap food have dropped, I’m still way ahead.

And where is the proof as is so often asked. Temporal proof is not readily available – but what is available is anecdotal evidence from the many thousands of people who have experienced the true benefits of what UM brings to humanity – and that cannot be denied. And thank goodness that Serge Benhayon has brought the teachings to us to help us unravel and discover who we really are.

There is nothing more special about Unimed students than any other person. We have our individual issues and work and mix and enjoy being with people anywhere irrespective of what they do or how they think. Some students come, some go and many have changed the way they live their lives.

The contention that Unimed students must follow and are not allowed to do this or that or can’t eat this or that and so on is a complete lot of hogwash and purely used on this forum as a ridiculing tactic. Yes by all means criticise the teachings – but for goodness sake, research properly before presenting inflamed inaccuracies.

Here are two examples from the last couple of days…

The post from Nonfooliam on 21 April says: “last July (2011) Serge stood in front of his Friday night meetings followers (200 at least) and animatedly predicted that Sydney would be hit by a freak tornado in the coming November, and that specifically Kirribilly would be hit.”

This statement has been deliberately manipulated by a person (who is hiding behind a pseudonym without the courage to declare who they really are) to suit their own purpose. Nonfooliam is exposed because that presentation was recorded and is available for download to listen to on the Unimed site. In the recording you will not hear Serge make those comments because he did not make them. So simple. Therefore, the questions arise about you Nonfooliam -- is it a case of straight lying, liberty to fabricate, which is lying, or just not being able to hear correctly?

I say to Nonfooliam…if you stand by the statement that you posted, then repeat it ‘word for word’ but this time add your real name and address (that can be verified). At least that way we can see if you have true integrity or in fact, you have changed something to suit yourself.

The second example is the post from frodobaggins on April 21 where he has copied quotes from a recent article about the UM retreat in the UK. The paragraphs selected by frodobaggins as a ‘summary’ are 1156 words long. The original article is 7,210 words long. This is not a summary – it is specific selection of passages by frodobaggins to suit his purposes.

All that was necessary here was to simply reference the url to allow people to view the article in full so they can make their own judgements. Lifting passages of text without permission may also be a possible breach of copyright, particularly when at the bottom of that page is the following statement: All content on this site © 2000 by Serge Benhayon, Universal Medicine / All Rights Reserved. But then again, I am not a lawyer.

The above two posts over the last couple of days have been manipulated, and there are many more throughout this forum. An astute reader can see right through these tactics. Perhaps now you may understand the futility of being involved with this forum when doctored information is being presented.

Criticise by all means, go for it…but at least base it on facts. Is that too much to ask?

Criticise by all means, go for it…but at least keep it on a level playing field. Is that too much to ask?

Questions have been raised on this forum and I felt this was the best way to respond. I’m not here to attempt to change anyone’s mind, but simply to provide a reflection of my life as a UM student. I do find it amazing.

There are many points I have raised in this post that are open to criticism and I am certain that will occur (which is fine). However I do not intend to be involved any further in an ongoing dialogue. It is not because I’m not prepared to discuss our differences…this is quite time consuming for me. I feel I have been open and honest with you and I’ve simply said enough. Apart from that there’s lots of work for me to do and many photographs out there waiting to be taken.

And finally, Universal Medicine has helped me realise I had been hiding behind and avoiding love. By releasing the blinkers that were clouding my vision I have been able to rediscover a world that is full of wonder-full people in which we can see the magic of God and the extraordinary in the ordinary. There’s so much to celebrate.

I didn’t need Universal Medicine or Serge to do that for me…but boy it has helped and I am most grateful.

I wish you well

With Love
Rod Harvey
