For the benefit of American readers who want to fact check Serge Benhayon, lets write some posts listing the most informative item from this discussion thread.

That way new readers can get what they need immediately.

A note about trolls:

Trolls often arrive just when a discussion is digging up important information.

Cults are about information control. Cults want to bury harm reports under a mountain of blarney. They want to distract readers from finding harm reports.

Trolls also seek to distract from discussions bringing information about an organization, its methods, and legal issues.

The troll seeks to disrupt flow of new information by attracting attention to themselves or by shame tripping.

Free meditation classes are a great hook. People really go for those. I see fliers all over town. Judging from the number of pull of tabs removed from those fliers, people are interested.

Fascinating to see the members close ranks on Twitter. After last weeks trial media reporting - of which there is a lot - they have tried to blanket Tweet articles on Benhayon, all of which are of course penned by the group itself, no outside fact checking or oversight. The same names appear over and over again, some of them must of tweeted 20 or 30 times yesterday in what appears to be an attempt to counter the avalanche of reporting of Benhayon’s own words in court where he was questioned on such things as his view on disabled children, autism and reincarnation. In order to comply with requests not to risk any contempt of court I’ll not reprint anything here, but a quick google search with the worlds “Serge Benhayon” + “court” will provide you with hours of reading from last week.

Those same names also lay the usual accusations of media bias and bad reporting, but as one of the well respected journalists who had written on the trial responded on Twitter to such an accusation:

“oh get a grip. Its called reportage. As journalists we have a duty to report what a witness says in court. You may feel entitled to get hysterical but some of us have to stick to the facts.”

LOL. Couldn’t of said it better myself.

The trial has just started it’s fourth week and it’s been reported it may run in to a fifth. Whatever the outcome, the staggering revalations and the amount of information about the group that is now in the public record is amazing. Hopefully a full transcript of the whole procedure will be available after it closes.

It's a fascinating case. I will have go back and read over the defendant's blog... it looks like all she tried to do was warn people about this cult and now she is in financial trouble, having declared bankruptcy, having huge legal bills.... I hope it is worth it and she wins the case.

Even if she wins, it's going to be difficult to put her life back on track. And I suppose if the UM cult leader loses, he will appeal the court's ruling and the legalities will go on for a long time.

It just shows how damaging these cults are and what they can do to an ordinary person who happens to get involved with them. It's very scary.

No worries, it’s important these articles are shared as much as possible in order to present a counterpoint to the the UM PR machine which is working overtime at the moment.

Sahara71 you are right, this is a test case for truth and freedom of speech.

It goes without saying that the Ministry of Truth will publish the full and unabridged findings from the Benhayon vs Rockett case here for the World to read. We always expect censoring from the Thought Police at Universal Medicine headquarters whose primary aim is to employ doublethink, which seeks to narrow the range of thought altogether! A clear and decisive win for Esther Rockett. The jury has returned its verdict and amoung the highlights, as posted by Esther on the Esther Rockett Legal Defense page on Facebook are:

Serge Benhayon is dishonest.
Serge Benhayon is the leader of a socially harmful cult.
Serge Benhayon had intentially indecently touched a number of clients in his treatment rooms.

So how will UM try and spin all this? Will the entire legal system be declared under the control of Esther Rockett? Will this all be the work of a handful of disgruntled males? Is this all a conspiracy by evil entities?

No, this is justice served and this judgement is finally a declaration to all of exactly what is at the heart of UM.

Well done Esther, and congratulations to you and your legal team. Thank you for taking this to the finish line despite continual horrific harassment. As one journalist stated, the real deformation in this case was the mud slung at Esther by the cult.

This is wonderful news.

Universal Medicine is a socially harmful cult.

The law has found on the side of decency and reason! Anyone with half a brain could see that this group were spouting absolute assinine rubbish that was halmful to vulnerable people.

Self-styled healer Serge Benhayon leads 'socially harmful cult': jury

"Former Sydney tennis coach turned self-styled spiritual healer Serge Benhayon has suffered a spectacular loss in his Supreme Court defamation case against a former client, after a four-person jury found it was true to say he led a "socially harmful cult", "intentionally indecently touched" clients and made "bogus healing claims".

Serge Benhayon, 54, sued acupuncturist and former client Esther Rockett for defamation over a series of blog posts and tweets starting in November 2014, which he says portrayed him as "dishonest", a "charlatan who makes fraudulent medical claims", and the leader of a "socially harmful cult".

Mr Benhayon, a former bankrupt who operates the lucrative business Universal Medicine from his home near Lismore in the NSW Northern Rivers region, described himself in court as a "teacher" and "practitioner" whose healing techniques included "esoteric breast massage", which is taught by him but performed exclusively by women.

During his stint in the witness box, Mr Benhayon also said he "had an understanding" that in one of his many past lives he was Leonardo da Vinci.

He was flanked in court by numerous supporters, including family members and associates who kept a watchful eye on media coverage of the case, but numbers dwindled to a handful of stalwarts as the trial dragged on. Mr Benhayon himself did not attend every day of the trial and he was not in court on Monday when the verdict was delivered.

Ms Rockett had accused Mr Benhayon of performing a "sleazy ovarian reading" on her during a treatment session that involved inappropriate touching through her clothing.

The jury found Ms Rockett had established a defence of substantial truth to the bulk of the defamatory meanings pleaded by Mr Benhayon, including that he "intentionally indecently touched" her and a number of other clients during treatment sessions and was "the leader of a socially harmful cult".

They found the publications did not convey that he was a "sexual predator who has preyed on a number of clients", so a substantive defence to that meaning was not required.

However, the jury found it was also substantially true to suggest, as Ms Rockett claimed, that there were "reasonable grounds to believe" Mr Benhayon intentionally sexually preyed upon her and other clients during treatment sessions.

They also found it was true to say Mr Benhayon was the leader of Universal Medicine, "a group which to his knowledge makes false claims about healing that causes harm to others", and he had an "indecent interest in young girls as young as ten whom he causes to stay at his house unaccompanied".

Ms Rockett said “the jury has validated my criticisms of this cult and its leader" and the jury had "made the decision I had hoped for".

The case was highly complex and hard-fought, with Mr Benhayon claiming the 22 publications conveyed a total of 60 defamatory imputations about him.

In a multi-pronged legal defence, Ms Rockett's lawyers said the imputations were either not conveyed by the publications, or a defence of truth, honest opinion or qualified privilege was available.

The four-person jury was given the unenviable task of deciding whether the publications in fact conveyed the alleged imputations and, if so, whether Ms Rockett had established a defence. To complete that task, the jury had to provide a yes or no answer to more than 200 questions. Their deliberations took six-and-a-half days.

Ms Rockett, who is bankrupt, was unable to fund her legal defence but was represented in court by Sydney barristers Tom Molomby, SC, and Louise Goodchild.

In his closing address to the jury, Mr Molomby said Mr Benhayon was “just a conman from Goonellabah” and was “not Mona Lisa anymore" but "Mona Liar”.

The jury found a handful of defamatory meanings were not defensible on the basis of truth or honest opinion, including that Mr Benhayon was "delusional" and had allegedly "groped the anus and vulva of various women under the guise of treating them".

But in those cases the jury said a defence of qualified privilege was available because the publications were reasonable in the circumstances and she was not "actuated by malice".

Ms Rockett’s solicitor, Stewart O’Connell of O’Brien Solicitors, said the verdict was “a comprehensive victory against a Goliath organisation by a woman who refused to be bullied" and was a "complete vindication of Ms Rockett".
