Told to starve

Because of what happened to me at Chabad, I have run food pantries in both NY and NJ. I refuse to laugh in another human being's face and tell him, "you'll starve".
What makes what happened to me even worse is that the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, which feeds thousands of people each day AND has not one but TWO locations in Crown Heights was unknown to me. I was not directed there.
I refuse to believe that I'm unworthy of help from Jewish organizations when I got my face beaten in when I was a kid for being Jewish. Especially from a group of "religious" people that prides itself on "love of it's neighbor".
A lot of people believe that things need to change drastically down here on planet earth. I hope I can do some of the work.
There's a Jewish saying "lo alecha hamlecha ligmor v'lo atah ben chorim" which means that "I don't have to complete the work but neither am I free to abstain from it."
