I have a friend involved in a NRM. Every weekend they have a "tele-conference" where they all meditate and listen to thier group leader speak remotely (in a very wierd tone) over some kind of speaker.
In this "teleconference" the group leader tells the members what to imagine (things like riding on clouds, views a an emerald city, etc. . ) but who knows what else he is saying because it is a "Doomsday" group and the members all fully believe in things like. . .
- Comet Elenin destroying the parts of earth on 11/11/11 (Even though the comet has died, members still think it's there)
- The "Great Physical Ascension" in which all of this NRM's member will be a part of. It means they will be magically lifted up into heaven BEFORE the preceeding destruction that will lead up to the end of the world.
- That Dec 21st 2012 is the end of the world.
- That thier group is the ONLY group that truly "walks thier walk"
- That thier leader is Jesus Christ re-incarnated.
My friend is 1000% convinced that all of these things are accurate.
Is my friend under mind control by use of listening to this "teleconference" while meditating?
It seems like some sort of hypnosis. Meditating is one thing, but meditating while someone else is putting ideas into your head seems like hypnosis without consent. And wouldn't hypnosis without cosent be illegal?
I have read the "Mind Control" tab under Rick Ross. It was no help for my particular situation.
Any input or opinions would be appreciated.
This announcement from the group leader tells his members how to deal with people that are concerned about them. Denying they are a cult.
