Eckanker is based on Sant Mat teachings which are associated with the Sikh lineage.

The Sant Mat tradition suggests closing the eyes and focusing the attention on the space in front of the 3rd eye, ie the space in front of the gap between the eyebrows.

This is said to be the seat of the soul, and repeated practise is said to enable concious awareness of the link between the soul and the God Power/Universal Energy.
