Tasha is referring to House of Prayer (HOP) churches, HQ-ed in Hinesville GA. HOP is a group that is an offshoot from the New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc. (NTCC), founded by Rev. R.W. Davis. HOP is founded and run by Ron Denis. Sister Virgo is Denis' wife. It's a bad group; I encountered these people back in early 2004, when I was at Ft. Stewart. HOP is every bit as controlling and abusive as NTCC (and even more legalistic), and if I were you, Tasha, I'd find another church.

It just occurred to me, Tasha, that last I knew (and I have not been in Hinesville since 2005) Denis' policy was that active members of HOP were not ever to use the Internet for any reason or purpose. He even used to preach things in which he would equate the use of the Internet with taking the Mark of the Beast. I've heard him preach that myself.

Therefore, for you to even be communicating this here would be in violation of HOP/Denis' policy. So either this has policy has changed, or else you are (fortunately) not all that deeply involved in HOP. Either that, or you are here behind their backs. If this is the case, then welcome!

HOP (Denis' group) doesn't even have a website. NTCC finally developed one five or six years ago. But as far as I know, Denis does not let his people (so to speak) ever use the Internet.

Is HOP allowing members to use the Internet nowadays, Tasha?

Tasha, I use to go to the Lacey church quite regularly. I was faithful for 6 months going to all the services all the functions and I even lived in the home for a while. I have seen what goes on there, these people are controlling and very judgemental. I tried to leave the church once and the Lacey pastor told me that the devil is going to try to lie to me and say I'm only leaving the church but in reality I'm leaving god. He told me I am going to be 7 times worse than I was before I came. He really did not want me to leave, they think they are THE church that Jesus is coming back for he told me that exactly. The people are pushy chased me down and have even came to my door and scolded me for missing a few services when I was busy getting ready for a field exercise. I know who you are, and hopefully your friend that brought you will realize what goes on in this church. And also your boyfriend.

While I was in the Army, in Hinesville GA back in 2004 (shortly after the HOP/NTCC split) I had a series of pretty negative experiences with Ron Denis and the HOP people. Would anybody like to know what happened to me, in my experience with them?

Rev. Virgo is a former New Testament Christian Church preacher. He went to NTCC from around 1983 until 2004 when he and another small group of people were fed up with the trash of NTCC when he left after the split to form what is now HOPCC. He is originally from Jamaica, he joined the US Army back in the early 80's, he is the pastor now of the Tacoma church.

I have been to many churches in the area, this is the only one I have found that is close to the Bible. I think allot of people who complain about the church just don't like the way they preach directly to you. They preach openly against sins like: fornication (sex outside of marriage), adultery, pornography, alcohol, and allot of other vices like smoking and drugs.

So when people go and get preached to they get offended But sincere people who believe the Bible and God realize this is the truth and it is what they need.

Think about it, if you use curse words and they say it is wrong you will get upset. That is what I have seen, so many people get mad and talk bad about the church. But everyone I have seen that does has some of these things in their lives and doesn't want to confess it or admit it. So it's easier to defend yourself. I think that is OK for now, but the problem is when we meet God that won't work. I realized I would rather face it now while we can find forgiveness and change. But later it will be too late.

So I found the choice to be one of two: either get mad like allot of people on the internet and come up with some excuse why the church is bad or humble yourself and believe God and find mercy. For me I am not going to talk bad and blame the church, if I am wrong then I am wrong. Be a man or woman and face yourself and admit we are the problem not the church.
